Goran Bregović is a highly-acclaimed international composer and musician who weaves together traditional styles from the region where he grew up, experimenting with genres from Romani to Klezmer to classical, incorporating traditional chants and infusing electronic music while maintaining a distinctly Balkan identity in his sound. Every Bregović performance is in community with the audience, filling the concert hall with uproarious energy. As the founder of Bijelo Dugme (White Button), guitarist Bregović brought a bracing jolt of rock & roll to the Balkans in the mid-70s, selling millions of albums across the region while giving voice to a generation stifled by communist conformity. A multi-ethnic child of Sarajevo, born to a Serbian mother and a Croatian father, he fled to Paris, where he quickly gained attention for his vivid soundtrack work for over 30 movies, including director Emir Kusturica’s surreal 1993 winner of a Palme d’Or film “Arizona Dream,” starring Johnny Depp and featuring the vocals of punk legend Iggy Pop.

Goran Bregović has done it all, bringing his audacious vigor to some of the world’s most renowned stages such as the Hollywood Bowl, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Sydney Opera House, Palacio de Bellas Artes, and La Scala to name a few, and collaborating with major artists from around the world.
