The Cinco de Mayo holiday commemorates the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War (1861-1867). A minor holiday in Mexico, it has evolved into a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage in the United States, with the largest celebration typically held right here in Los Angeles. Cinco de Mayo traditions include parades, mariachi music performances, and street festivals. This year – from 6PM until 10PM on May 5 – we invite you to our virtual presentation highlighting the history, art, and traditions of this festive day.
